The Chargers will play in the postseason for the first time since 2018, having secured a spot after improving to 9-6 with two games left in the regular season.

Herbert missed a substantial amount of time due to a hamstring strain in Week 2 and a high ankle sprain in Week 3 respectively, and he played despite the injury for several weeks. Wide receivers Allen and Mike Williams were also out for a while due to injuries as well. It took until Week 14 for Allen and Williams to play an entire game together. Rashawn Slater, a left tackle, was also placed on injured reserve after Week 3 for the offensive line.

Despite securing his first-ever playoff berth, Herbert sounded adamant that there is still much room for development in the future.

The Chargers play the Los Angeles Rams at home on Sunday, and in Week 18, they play the Denver Broncos to round up the regular season.
